South Tyrol – The magic of variety

Holidays in South Tyrol can be so beautiful

South Tyrol promises recreational and adventurous holidays! In spring you can enjoy sunny walks, in summer you can enjoy hiking, Nordic walking, cycling and swimming... in autumn you can participate at the traditional Törggele evenings with chestnuts and new wine, and the Culture Autumn in Terento… in winter a snowed-in landscape and perfectly groomed slopes await you for unforgettable skiing holidays!

History of South Tyrol

From 1363 until 1919 South Tyrol was part of the Habsburg Empire. With the Peace Treaty of St. Germain after World War I, South Tyrol was awarded to the victorious power Italy and Italianised afterwards. After difficult times and conflicts between the language groups, today 500,000 people of the German, Italian and Ladin language groups live together in peace. The Province of Trentino-South Tyrol is an Autonomy, and thereby is an exemplary model for other minorities worldwide.

South Tyrol... The magic of variety

South Tyrol lives from contrasts and is therefore often referred to as the symbiosis of Alpine and Mediterranean spontaneity and reliability, nature and culture.
In South Tyrol you experience the magic of variety… idyllic meadows, forests and lakes, lively cities, steep rocks, white mountain peaks, enchanting castles, excellent wines, spicy bacon, hard Schüttelbrot (local crispbread), scenting chestnuts, and much more! The cuisine also offers great variety and is a symbiosis of two cultures. You can find Tyrolean, farming and Mediterranean dishes on the menus of local restaurants! Amongst the most renowned South Tyrolean quality products we have to mention wine, apples, chestnuts, Schüttelbrot, bacon, honey, grappa and much more!
